CONOCARPUS

It is one of the two species of flowering plant in the family Combretaceae, it is an invasive mangrove species.
Recently the government of Gujarat along with the Government of Telangana banned this tree's plantation in forest or non forested area as it has adverse impact on both the environment and the human health.

  
CHARACTERISTICS OF THIS SPECIES-
1. This species is widely suppressed around Southern red sea coast and is also found in the tropical regions.

2. These are small sized to medium size trees from 1 to 20 m tall.

3. It is widely used in public species for its ornamental look and quality. The flowering in this tree occurs in winter and its pore can cause cold, allergy ,asthma, coughing and other allergic reactions to human beings.

4. The roots of this species can go deep inside the soil and are extensively developed which can unintentionally damage the human infrastructure nearby it.
 
5. It grow instantly and can tolerate high temperatures it does not need freshwater streams to grow and bears flowers.
 
6. Trees are evergreen plans species with dark green shining leaves. They are not consumed by both wild animals and domestic animals.

8. However these species are of great medicinal importance like its leaves and fruits have been traditionally used as Anti diabetic, anti malarial, in the treatment of conjunctivitis, syphilis, diarrhoea, anaemia heat swelling ,gonorrhea.
  
REASON FOR THE BAN ARE -
 
Firstly it is water intensive species and it is invasive and can compete with other native plant species and can totally replace them from the environment.

Secondly plants roots pose a threat to underground pipelines and telecom wires.

Thirdly it's Pollen  can trigger certain respiratory disease in humans.
